When Melissa Ludwig, Mitch Connell and AJ Navarro met in 2008, creating music fueled their existence. Their 2010 album, "Now That You're Here," broke into the Top 60 of the national Americana charts and Richard Skanse of Lone Star Music Magazine called the songs “sparkling gems...intelligently written and exquisitely crafted."
In 2011, producer and bass player David Brown joined the band and the group played shows across Texas until 2014, when Melissa and Mitch gave birth to a daughter, Max. While the band continued to make music and perform, juggling families and careers took center stage.
In 2018, the band got back into the studio and began recording. In 2019, Jordan Bryant joined the band on keys and backing vocals.
A new album, "Play it Back Again," comes nearly a decade after the band's debut release.
From an old stone church in Texas to a swimming pool in the Hollywood hills, from a family watching an addict slip away to an old woman replaying scenes from her life like a broken record, the album takes the listener on a journey through the human condition, from the raw desires of youth to the bittersweet reflections of old age.
“For me, this album is about nostalgia and reflection,” Melissa says. “Everybody has a story that defines their life. The older I get, the more I ask myself, ‘What is my story going to be? How much has already been written?’"
